What have I learnt in this module?
Due to the fact that I come from a different school (the School of Mass Communication), this module is really different for me, and everything about it is completely different. The semester was a great learning experience for me because I was exposed to many new design ideas and creative applications of elements. Despite the fact that I am not the best when it comes to creating, I have learned to be creative, quick-witted, and have gained a great deal of design knowledge, all of which will be extremely valuable in my future endeavours and jobs.
What did I enjoy the most?
Because of the lecturer that I was assigned, the classes themselves were really interesting. Because he made the class interactive and took us on a virtual tour, we learned a lot more. I also appreciated the manner in which consultation sessions were performed and the fact that he had his own discord channel for us to hang out. In addition, he had his own marking scheme, which I found to be quite interesting. The badges that he gave out to students as a reward were awarded based on a point system. The badges were actually designed to encourage people to earn higher levels of recognition, which was quite motivating. Overall, it was a pleasurable experience, and I appreciated the learning process, exercises, and projects that were assigned.
What did I not enjoy the most?
The sad truth is that I have to bring this up again since it has a direct impact on the learning environment and the experience of students. I disliked the fact that I couldn't meet my professor and classmates face-to-face. Furthermore, I missed many opportunities to collaborate with my peers and share ideas when working on our projects and exercises. At least the classes were in hybrid mode since the campus was having hybrid classes.
What have I learnt about myself through this module?
This semester was a great opportunity for me to improve my time management abilities. As a result of the hectic structure of this semester because it was only 7 weeks of classes. This module forced me to develop a wide range of abilities, among them designing and being as imaginative as possible. In addition, I was afraid to venture outside of my comfort zone, so I created only what I was familiar with. I'd like to try something new next time, something more challenging. In addition, my semesters caused me to overthink that I performed poorly, making me very indecisive. Even if this is a learning experience for me, I think it's fine because I intend to improve my decision-making in the future.
What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
It is the consistency of my design progress that has evolved during this journey. It is possible that I will enjoy a particular design that I have created, but that others will not, or vice versa. The psychological impact of this, I believe, would have a negative impact on us creators and, at times, result in a less desirable solution in the end. I, therefore, feel as though I produce excellent work at times, but equally as a fine job at others, resulting in an inconsistent output of design. In the course of this trip, one thing that has remained constant is my desire to continue learning new things. Trying out new things and experimenting with various design concepts is something I'm constantly striving to do better.
What could be improved in this module?
I don't feel like I received any feedback for this module because my professor was superb in his delivery of the material and he often inquired about our progress. Furthermore, he was putting out his best effort to make the class exciting and extremely engaging for his students in order to keep the class atmosphere from becoming boring and quiet.
