PROJECT 3: WEBTOON & MOTION COMIC

Visual research and idea exploration

Before I could come up with the story's concept, I did some research on the compositions and layouts of comic books. I look at how comics were drawn and coloured by a variety of different artists. The disposition of a comic book can be established in part by the manner in which its panels are organised, coloured, and lighted, as well as by the effects produced on the drawings.

My understanding of the importance of motion in comics was greatly improved by the course on Design Principles. The focus of the audience moves from one scene to the next as the story progresses.  In addition to that, it is quite important to make use of contrast and hierarchy, because doing so helps to highlight important components of a scene, such as certain people or activities.

Developing story plot

Our assignment is to write a short narrative with the title "Unforgettable Fight Scene," and the concept should guide our writing. The only narrative that comes to me is one in which superheroes engage in a battle that also involves families. I've always been a big fan of Marvel, and it was after reading one of their stories that I got the idea for this. In addition to that, I wanted my tale to be very basic, and I also wanted there to be a minimum amount of conversation. because I wanted the audience to be able to follow the story thread based on what they saw, I made sure that I chose appropriate images.

FINAL PROJECT

I used Adobe Photoshop to combine my work down to a manageable amount of layers before bringing it into After Effects. After that, I put them in the proper order and gave them descriptive names so that animating them in After Effects would go more smoothly.
