WEEK 2

Tutorial

Mr Charles provided us with something new to do this week by allowing us to listen to music. Our objective was to simply listen to the music and feel the beat, and then we had to come up with a design for the artwork. It was new territory for me, as I had never done anything like this before, and I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to develop an artwork design while listening to the song in its entirety. But I convinced myself that it would be a worthwhile experience for me to give it a shot.

Imaginative Music Beat Artwork 1

Figure 1.1 Task 1

Feedback: Mr. Charles commented on the rhythm of my artwork. Additionally, he stated that there is movement and the green begins to draw attention to the background.

Task 1 : I never knew I would have fun throughout this task. Not only that, I never realized I could sketch by just feeling the beat of the music. It was such a fantastic experience. When I was producing this artwork, I was listening to the music played by Mr. Charles. The song gave me a galaxy and spaceship vibe since I could image the stars gleaming in space while the planets circled around the stars and galaxy while listening to music.

Task 2 : Mr. Charles was so pleased with all of the artwork we produced for the first task that he asked us to repeat the process for the second. This time, he chose a different song with a different beat to perform to us. My confusion over what I was listening to as he was playing this music continued during the whole of it. Then I remembered him telling us that we could do whatever we wanted with our art if we wanted to. I settled on drawing basic forms in rhythm and movement with varying shades of colour and a zig-zag line following a rectangular shape to complement the overall effect of the piece.
