DPI : WEEK 5

LECTURE :

Mr. Fauzi taught us about Conceptual Poster Design today in the lecture class he was teaching. He emphasised that posters are a type of medium that is used to communicate information to a specific audience. He also stated that posters are important in situations where they convey an impactful message and raise awareness of a problem, as well as in situations where they convey a brand message and entice the audience to purchase products or services.

When you start brainstorming for your poster design idea, you need to ask yourself why you’re making this poster.

  • Is it a poster for brand awareness?
  • Is it an advertising poster?
  • Is it a Public Service Announcement poster?
1.Research about your topic
  • Study and gather all related information about your topic.
  • Write a summary about your topic
  • Highlight the key points of your summary
  • Define the Title
  • Define the Slogan
  • Define the Details
  • Define the Call For Action

2. Define your concept

  • Create a section for each contents (Title, Slogan, Details & Call for Action)
  • Sketch your mock up poster
  • Fill in with details

3. Start to develop your design projects
  • Draft the digital poster based on your sketch
  • Develop the composition techniques using Digital Photography & Graphic Design.
  • Apply color, typography, textures & effects
  • Finalize your design with color correction

TUTORIAL

At the end of our tutorial, Mr. Fauzi gave us a brief overview of our Project 2B, in which we were required to brainstorm ideas for posters based on the theme that had been assigned, which was Mental Health. He was also given the assignment of conducting research on the subject matter.

PRACTICAL

When we finished with our tutorial class, we were given a practical exercise that was also a component of assignment project 2A. This assignment was given to us in order for us to become more familiar with the Photoshop tool as well as to improve our overall knowledge of Photoshop. Mr. Fauzi walked us through the process of editing it in Photoshop.

PROJECT 2: PART 1 SHAZAM

Shazam Heart Mansion (Exercise)

Using the quick selection tool, we were supposed to be able to remove the background from the Shazam image. It was extremely simple to make use of that tool. After the background had been removed, we were instructed to reduce the size of the Shazam so that it would fit into the heart mansion background properly. Once we were finished with the resizing, we were given the option of matching the colour of the shazam to the background so that it didn't look out of place.

PROJECT 2: PART 2 MY REFLECTION

Part 2 of our Assignment (Exercise) required us to use our own photographs and to follow the same procedures as in part 1 to replace the shazam layer on the background of the photograph. I made every effort to make it as realistic as possible, and I'm extremely pleased with the outcome.
